ASL3.0.6 on Debian 12 it's running! Almon3 is a problem

I got new hardware and have built a node on a Raspberry Pi 4B that boots from an SSD. Debian (Boolworm) is up to date and I followed the user-guide instructions and Allmon3 instructions. I was able to SSH into the RPi/node and run asl-menu which I have done and configured the node using asl-menu. The node accepts a connection from RepeaterPhone.and from my other node. It appears in the portal. Yay!

Allmon3 installed on the node and configured as directed allows me to login using the username/password I set. Every command gives the same result “Command Error” undefined

Allmon3.ini
[node number]
host=the ip of the node
user=admin
pass=*********

Where should I look next?
